Hair removal

If your are tweezing, please stop now. This temporary measure will make hairs stronger and prevent me from seeing the full picture and lengthen the time it takes to permanently remove the hair.

Contrary to what you may have heard, shaving is totally acceptable. Shaving merely blunts off the fine little tip that every new hair grows in with. The hair continues to grow and so the next day you feel the full shaft of the hair. You have done nothing at the root end to strengthen the hair (unlike tweezing, threading and waxing).

Please shave or clip the areas to be treated 3-4 days before treatment. This will ensure that I have hairs to work with that are in the most active stage of growth and yet are long enough to treat.

Topical treatments to the skin

If you are having an underarm treatment, please skip your deodorant or antiperspirant on the day of your appointment. The follicle mouth will be more receptive to treatment as a result.

Moisturize the areas topically to be treated in the morning before your appointment if it is a part of your regular skin care routine.

Drinking water

Hydrated skin does a better job of conducting the currents used in electrolysis hair removal techniques. Because ample moisture content is one of the key factors in the success of electro-epilation, please drink as much pure water as possible at least twenty-four hours before treatment. In the hours directly before your appointment, please try to drink at least 24-48 ounces.

It is advisable to skip your morning coffee, especially in the hours right before your appointment. Please also steer clear of sodas or other stimulants. Your nervous system will be calmer and your hair follicles will respond better to treatment.

Pain relief

If you are particularly sensitive or concerned about pain, feel free to take an over the counter pain reliever, such as Ibuprofen or Acetaminophen shortly before your appointment. You may also apply a topical anesthetic to the area being treated. I can recommend one that may work for you after your first consultation.
